Newport Park Fenced Dog Park

Newport Park Fenced Dog Park sits on Spinnaker Boulevard within a larger multi-use reserve near Newport Marina on the Redcliffe Peninsula, and it is one of the few genuinely secure enclosed off-leash spaces in the area. Separate runs for small and large dogs mean nervous newcomers are not mixed with boisterous regulars by accident.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with secure gates, split into dedicated sections for small dogs and large dogs. Once inside, dogs run off leash under City of Moreton Bay rules, but you still need to stay present, keep your dog in sight and rely on voice control rather than the fence alone.

The ground mixes turf with a rubber base, water taps are inside for the dogs, and shaded benches give owners somewhere to sit. Outside the fences the rest of Newport Park is on-leash territory, and the adjacent children's playground is off limits to dogs entirely. Bins and waste bags are provided.

The vibe

Locals describe a friendly, regular crowd and a well-kept space, and topics like cleanliness and the small-dog section come up often. Good lighting makes early morning and late afternoon visits practical year round, and the marina setting gives the wider reserve a more scenic backdrop than most suburban dog runs.

Getting there

Free on-site parking sits off Spinnaker Boulevard. Bus routes run along the main roads nearby but you will walk in from the closest stop. Weekday mornings and late afternoons tend to be the quiet windows, with weekends and the late-afternoon after-work rush the busiest.

Max: check which side is the small-dog section before you let anyone off the lead. It is split for a reason.

Anchorage Bakery Cafe on Griffith Road is a short walk away and welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables, and Scarborough Dog Beach a few kilometres up the coast is a solid off-leash follow-up. For another secure run, Kroll Gardens Fenced Dog Park at Clontarf is one of the peninsula's largest.
