Newport Park Fenced Dog Park

Newport Park Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area on Spinnaker Boulevard, split into separate sections for small and large dogs. It sits inside a larger multi-use park near Newport Marina, on the Redcliffe Peninsula, and is one of the few genuinely secure off-leash spaces in the area.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced sections, but owners are expected to keep them under effective voice control and to use the small-dog and large-dog areas as intended. Dogs are not permitted in the adjacent children's playground. Pick up after your dog using the bins provided.

What's there. The fenced area has a mixed turf and rubber base, water taps for dogs, shaded benches for owners, and nearby public toilets and electric barbecues. Good lighting makes early morning or late afternoon visits easy.

Getting there. Free on-site parking is available off Spinnaker Boulevard. Local bus routes run along the nearby main roads, though you'll need to walk in from the closest stop.

Nearby with the dogs. Anchorage Bakery Cafe on Griffith Road is a short walk away and welcomes dogs in its outdoor seating. Sea Salt and Vine in Scarborough, a few kilometres along the coast, is another solid option with a dog-friendly outdoor area.

When to go. Early mornings and late afternoons on weekdays tend to be quieter, while weekends and the 4:30-6pm window get busiest. Good for dogs that need a properly fenced run rather than an open leash-free park.
