Anchorage Bakery Cafe

Anchorage Bakery Cafe is a casual local bakery at Marina Plaza on Griffith Road in Newport, on Brisbane's Redcliffe peninsula, with outdoor seating looking out towards the marina. It is known for very early starts, fresh sourdough and a solid all-day menu, and the marina-side tables are where you and the dog settle in.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area facing the marina, on a leash and kept well-behaved around other patrons. Indoor seating is for diners only. Staff are generally accommodating, but bring your own water bowl as one is not guaranteed on site. The flat pavement access makes it easy for older dogs too.

The menu

Sourdough, savoury pastries and scones come out of the bakery side, backed by a full breakfast and lunch range including burgers and pizza. It opens from around 5am daily, 6am on Sunday, and trades through to 4pm, which makes it a dependable stop before or after an early waterside walk. Locals use it as the standing coffee-while-walking-the-dog option for the peninsula, and the early hours mean you can beat both the sun and the crowds.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 141-145 Griffith Road, with free street parking along Griffith Road and a car park attached to Marina Plaza, so parking is rarely a problem even on weekend mornings.

Close by with the dogs

The Newport Park Fenced Dog Park is close by for an off-lead run after breakfast, and the Kroll Gardens fenced dog park at Clontarf is another solid option down the peninsula. For water dogs, Clarks Beach at Margate is a short drive north along the bay.
