Elanora Park Fenced Dog Park

Elanora Park is a fenced, two-hectare off-leash area on the Wynnum North Esplanade, sitting right on the bay with separate pens for big and small dogs. The draw is the combination: a properly secured run, water views across to Moreton Island, and a mangrove boardwalk and playground next door, so the whole household gets something out of the trip.

The dog setup

Off-leash play is permitted inside the fenced enclosures only, so keep your dog on-lead in the surrounding parkland and on the shared esplanade walkway. There are separate gated areas for large and small dogs with fencing roughly 1 to 1.5 metres high. Standard council expectations apply: voice control at all times, pick up after your dog, and keep any dog showing aggression out of the pens.

Inside you will find basic agility equipment, drinking bowls, a bag dispenser and bins, plus picnic tables and bench seating under the shade trees. A large modern playground with shade sails sits beside the dog area, which makes this an easy stop with kids in tow. The Toasty Grinds coffee van sets up on-site through the week for a coffee and a puppuccino.

Max: watch the tide line. The boardwalk fringe goes underwater at high tide and the ground near the mangroves holds mud long after rain.

Worth knowing

Shade is patchy through the middle of the day despite the trees, so bring water in summer and time longer visits for morning or late afternoon. The mangrove boardwalk and the wider Wynnum foreshore are right here for an on-lead walk before or after the fenced run.

Getting there and parking

The park is on the Wynnum North Esplanade, reached via Granada Street and Adam Street, with parking along the Esplanade. Wynnum North train station is a manageable walk, and the site connects to the Wynnum-Manly shared walkway and bikeway, so arriving on foot or by bike is straightforward.

Close by with the dogs

For actual sand, Manly's off-leash dog beach is a few minutes south along the bay, and Lota Dog Park continues the bayside circuit if the Elanora pens are full. Afterwards, Frenchies Cafe on Bay Terrace is the suburb's established dog-friendly coffee stop.
