Toasty Grinds Mobile Coffee Van

Toasty Grinds is a mobile coffee van that sets up on the edge of the Elanora Park dog off-leash area in Wynnum, on Brisbane's bayside. The whole point of the stop is that coffee and dog time happen in one place: you order at the window while your dog runs the fenced park beside you, then collect a treat on the way back to the car. It runs mornings, roughly Tuesday to Saturday, but because it is a van it pays to check its Facebook page for the current week before you drive over.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome right at the van, waiting on open parkland rather than tied up on a footpath. The team keeps water bowls out, and there is a small dog menu that runs to pupsicles and bacon pucks alongside the usual pats and attention. Because the van sits directly outside the fully fenced leash-free area, the outing works both ways: an off-leash run first with coffee after, or coffee in hand while the dog burns off energy. The ground is flat and open, so it suits older dogs and young dogs equally.

Worth knowing

For people, the draw is the toastie menu: around ten gourmet cheese toasties including hot honey, three cheese, garlic and chilli jam versions, plus vegan options, with pastries and muffins alongside. Regulars mention the cinnamon scrolls tend to sell out early, another reason to arrive mid-morning on a weekday rather than at the weekend rush. The van pours coffee from Primal Coffee Beans, a Mackay roaster, and also sells its own homemade salts and relishes. Every stop is outdoors, so it is a weather-permitting operation.

Getting there and parking

The van parks at the dog park end of the Elanora Park precinct in Wynnum North, with a gravel parking area opposite the fenced off-leash ground and flat access straight onto the grass. It pairs naturally with a run at Elanora Park Fenced Dog Park, and the bay is close enough to add a stroll afterwards.
