Evelyn Road Park Fenced Dog Park

Evelyn Road Park Fenced Dog Park is a council off-leash area at 180 Kianawah Road in Wynnum West, on Brisbane's bayside. It is a roomy, no-frills fenced run that rarely gets crowded, which makes it a reliable pick for a quick exercise session or training work without weaving through peak-hour packs.

The dog setup

The off-leash area is fully fenced with a double-gate entry, so you can slip the lead off without a dog bolting for the car park. It is open around the clock, seven days a week, and the entry points are wheelchair accessible. Water is available on site and waste bins are provided.

Worth knowing

Brisbane City Council rules apply: your dog must stay under effective control with you present and supervising, and you need to leash up and leave straight away if your dog shows aggression or undue distress towards other dogs or people. Dogs should be council-registered and up to date with vaccinations. Pick up after your dog and use the bins provided, and follow any posted signage about boundaries or separate sections.

The park is mostly open grass with room to spread out, so it suits dogs with decent recall even in company. There is limited shade structure compared with some bayside parks, so mornings and evenings are the comfortable times in summer.

Max: this one is about space, not scenery. Big open run, secure gates, hardly anyone there on weekdays, which is exactly what you want for a recall training session.

The park sits on Kianawah Road in Wynnum West, with street parking along Evelyn Road and the surrounding residential streets. It is about a 10 minute drive from Wynnum Central and the bayside foreshore.

Close by with the dogs

Elanora Park Fenced Dog Park at Wynnum North adds separate large and small dog sections and agility gear, and Stannard Road Park Fenced Dog Park in Manly West is a quieter neighbourhood option. For a swim day, Manly Off Leash Dog Beach is down the road, and The Hide Green Cafe is a handy dog-friendly coffee stop on the way home.
