Lota Dog Park

Lota Dog Park at 50 Andrew St is a fully fenced, off-leash park divided into separate zones for large and small dogs. The twin-area setup and spacious, well-kept grass runs are why a loyal crowd of bayside locals keeps coming back.

The dog setup

Two designated, fully fenced areas split the big runners from the small ones, each with room to move. The large-dog side has a gazebo for shade, and established trees shade both. Water stations serve the dogs, some agility equipment keeps active play interesting, and seating is spread for owners. The park sits next to a children's playground, a basketball hoop and a creek boardwalk, and the entrance and nearby parking are wheelchair accessible. Dog waste bags are stocked on site.

Off lead applies inside the fenced areas only. The surrounding park and the creek boardwalk are strictly on-lead, so clip on before you leave the gate rather than a few metres out. Owners need to supervise continuously, keep dogs well-behaved during the peak periods, and pick up immediately.

Worth knowing

Mosquitoes are the recurring complaint here, particularly in the warmer months and around the creek side of the park, so a session near dusk can be less pleasant than it looks. Early mornings and weekday middays are the calmer windows; weekend mornings bring the regulars out in force.

Getting there and parking

The address is 50 Andrew St, Lota, QLD 4179, with parking near the entrance. By train, the Cleveland line stops at Lota or Manly, both within easy walking distance of the park.

The bay at Manly pairs well with a park visit: the Manly Off-leash Dog Beach gives a saltwater run, and Andonis Cafe & Bar, Manly is the coffee stop after. For a second fenced option, the Elanora Park Fenced Dog Park at Wynnum is a short drive north.
