Miss Midgley's

Miss Midgley's is a heritage-listed former convent on James Street in New Farm, restored into self-contained apartments, with a handful of them set up specifically for guests travelling with dogs.

The pet policy. Dog-friendly stays are limited to designated apartments, including The Refectory, which has its own private, gated courtyard. Up to two well-behaved, house-trained dogs are allowed per booking. Dogs are not permitted on beds or lounges, cannot be left unattended overnight, and must stay out of the pool enclosure. You'll need to bring your own dog bedding, food and water bowls. Pick up after your dog in the courtyard and use the council bins on the western side of the property, not the apartment bins. Confirm the dog-friendly apartment specifically when booking.

The place. The building dates to the early 1900s and keeps its heritage character, with ground-floor apartments opening onto private courtyards and a restored pool for guests.

Location and nearby. James Street's cafes and shops are steps from the door, most with outdoor seating. New Farm Park is a short walk or drive for open space to run, the Riverwalk gives you a scenic path along the Brisbane River, and the Powerhouse Farmers Markets run Saturdays nearby.

When to go. Good for a quiet, central base if your dog is settled and house-trained. Confirm current rates and any deposit at booking, since fees vary by apartment and season.
