Letter M. Espresso

Letter M. Espresso is a small neighbourhood specialty coffee bar at 27 Lilla Street, Woody Point, one street back from the Bramble Bay foreshore and next to the post office. It has built a 4.9 rating across more than 200 reviews on the strength of its coffee and home baking, and the outdoor tables are dog friendly, which makes it the natural coffee stop on a peninsula dog walk.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the footpath and outdoor tables, with inside reserved for people. A water bowl is usually set out, though on hot days it is worth bringing your own as backup. Outdoor seating is limited and fills fast on weekend mornings, so social dogs who cope with close footpath tables are the best fit; weekdays are the calm window.

Worth knowing

Coffee is the drawcard, poured from beans roasted by Yardbird Coffee Roasters on the Sunshine Coast, with alternative milks available. The cabinet leans on home baking: regulars call out the carrot cake, pear crumble, homemade slices, croissants and heavily loaded stuffed cookies that appear on the venue's Instagram. Light savoury options like toasties round it out. Hours run Monday to Saturday 6am to 2pm, closed Sundays.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking is available on Lilla Street and the surrounding blocks. If you are already walking the waterfront, it is an easy walk up from the foreshore path.

Close by with the dogs

The foreshore path between Woody Point jetty and the Houghton Highway is a flat, 6.5km on-lead walk with Bramble Bay views the whole way. For an off-lead swim first, Queens Beach North Dog Off-Leash Area allows dogs off lead on the sand and in the water, and Kroll Gardens Fenced Dog Park in Clontarf offers about 20 acres of fenced grass with agility equipment and water stations.
