Deli Dakota Specialty Coffee & Sandwiches

Deli Dakota is a specialist sandwich shop and cafe at 30 Badminton Street, Mount Gravatt East, turning out serious deli builds and specialty coffee from a small, unfussy fit-out. These are substantial, high-end sandwiches rather than standard cafe fodder, and the footpath seating out front takes dogs, which makes it an easy early-morning stop with the leash still on.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath seating. Keep the lead short and leave room for pedestrians on the shared footpath, because the strip is compact and the tables sit close to passing foot traffic. Water bowls and the occasional treat are around for visiting dogs, but confirm at the counter on the day. Seating is limited, so think quick stop rather than long linger.

Worth knowing

The sandwiches are the draw: a BBQ brisket Reuben, the Calabrese toastie, loaded breakfast burgers and rotating specials, backed by Rosso specialty coffee, cold brew, matcha and house-made shakes. Hours run early, 5:30am to 1:30pm Monday to Saturday and to 1pm Sunday, so plan a breakfast or lunch visit, not an afternoon one. The venue is the work of the owner behind the former The Gift Shop cafe.

Getting there and parking

Free on-street parking runs along Badminton Street, generally easy on weekdays and tighter on weekends when nearby cafes draw traffic. If you live locally it is a walkable, quiet-street kind of errand, dog and all.

Pair breakfast with a proper run first: Abbeville Street Park fenced dog park in Upper Mount Gravatt has separate large and small dog sections, and the Mount Gravatt Summit track is close for an on-lead bushwalk climb before the toastie.
