Pioneer Crescent Park's fenced dog park is a quieter, residential-street alternative to Booker Place, tucked into a suburban Bellbowrie block with double-gated entry and separate zones for big and small dogs.

The rules. Dogs go on-leash in the surrounding parkland but can run off-leash once inside the fenced area. Owners need to stay inside the fenced zone with their dog and keep it under voice control the whole time. Bag and bin your dog's mess, and pull any dog showing aggression straight out.

What's there. The park splits into dedicated sections for large and small dogs, so it suits nervous or older dogs who don't want to be mobbed by a Labrador at full speed. There's a water fountain for dogs, plus shaded bench seating for you.

Getting there. Free street parking runs along Pioneer Crescent itself. By car, come in off Moggill Road near the Coles Moggill precinct. A few bus routes run along Moggill Road from Indooroopilly or Chapel Hill, with a short walk in from the nearest stop.

Nearby with the dogs. The Coles Moggill shopping village is a two-minute drive for a coffee run, though confirm outdoor seating allows dogs before you sit down. For a proper cafe stop, The Curious Caravan Café and Hitching Post Bar + Grill are both a short drive away in Pullenvale.

When to go. Late afternoons on weekdays and weekend mornings draw the biggest crowds. Weekday work hours or a late evening visit suit shy or anxious dogs better. Shade is limited in parts of the fenced area come afternoon, so factor that in over summer. Good for dogs that prefer a smaller, calmer crowd.
