The Inchcolm by Ode Hotels

The Inchcolm is a heritage boutique hotel on Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill, on the quiet northern edge of the Brisbane CBD. The 1920s building has been converted into loft-style rooms with a complimentary mini bar and live jazz in the bar, and it is one of the few Brisbane city hotels with a proper dog package rather than a grudging yes. Note the property now trades under the Ovolo brand, though it is listed here under its former Ode Hotels name. Dogs under 30 kg stay in designated pet-friendly rooms with a bed, bowls and treats waiting on arrival.

Dogs up to 30 kg are welcome, with a maximum of two per pet-friendly room. The fee is AU$100 per pet, per night, and you must book the designated dog-friendly package or room type - you cannot simply arrive with a dog on a standard booking. The package includes a plush dog bed, food and water bowls, toys and treats. Cats are not permitted. Fees and inclusions can change, so confirm the details when you book.

Pepsi: A dog bed and treats on arrival sets the tone, but the free mini bar is for the humans - keep chocolate and macadamias zipped away out of nose range.

The vibe

Guests consistently rate the staff as welcoming, which matters more than usual when you are walking a dog through a heritage lobby. Wickham Terrace keeps you walking distance from the city without the Queen Street crowds at the door. At $100 per pet per night the fee stacks up quickly, so this suits a one or two night city treat more than a week-long base, and you should weigh your dog honestly against the 30 kg limit before booking.
