Margaret Street Fenced Dog Park

Margaret Street Fenced Dog Park is a small, fully fenced off-leash yard at 93 Margaret St, right in the Brisbane CBD. It is one of the only secure off-leash options in the city core, which makes it the default run for apartment dogs who need a proper leg stretch without leaving town.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with self-closing gates, so dogs can be off-leash once inside. Brisbane City Council conditions apply: keep your dog in sight and under effective control, pick up after them straight away, and remove any dog showing aggression or non-stop barking. Your dog should be registered and up to date on vaccinations before it mixes with others.

It is a compact urban grass area with shaded seating for owners, and the bins are generally well kept. Water is hit and miss, so bring your own bottle and a collapsible bowl rather than relying on a tap.

Pepsi: it is small, so a busy morning can feel like a crowded lift with tails. If your dog likes elbow room, come mid-morning or after the evening rush clears.

The vibe

Weekday mornings before work and Saturday mornings are the busiest stretches, with a regular crew of city apartment dogs. Late weekday evenings and weekend afternoons are calmer if your dog prefers fewer playmates. It is a no-fuss stop between longer outings rather than a destination park.

Getting there and parking

The park is an easy walk from most city apartments and Queen Street Mall, and well served by Translink buses and trains. Driving is the harder option: expect limited paid street parking only.

Close by with the dogs

The larger Victoria Park fenced dog park in Spring Hill gives a keen dog more room, and the City Botanic Gardens riverside loop is an easy on-lead walk from Margaret Street. The Plant Room Cafe is a coffee stop on the way back.
