Raymond Park Fenced Dog Park

Raymond Park is a fully fenced, 24-hour off-leash dog park on the East Brisbane and Kangaroo Point border, and the draw is that it splits into separate large-dog and small-dog runs so nervous or little dogs get their own space. It is a compact, well-used neighbourhood park rather than a sprawling one, which is exactly what makes it feel safe.

The dog setup

The enclosure runs two gated sections, with mature shade trees, bench seating, bins and a water point in the larger run, and dog fountains cover hydration on muggy mornings. Bags are usually stocked but bring your own to be safe, and there is little to no lighting, so this is a daylight park despite the 24-hour designation.

Council rules apply inside the fence: dogs must stay under effective voice control, owners clean up immediately, and any dog showing aggression gets leashed and removed straight away. Leads go back on in the surrounding parkland and on the paths, and unregistered or sick dogs are not permitted.

The vibe

Max: small park, so read the room before you unclip. If a few boisterous dogs already own the big run, the small-dog side is the calmer bet.

Early mornings and mid-morning on weekdays are quietest, and Monday evenings tend to be the busiest. Summer gets humid with a few flies, so aim for before 8am or after 6pm to dodge the heat and the crowd.

Getting there

Street parking on the surrounding streets fills up when sport is on the adjacent field, though there is onsite parking off Baines Street. Brisbane City Council buses run along Wellington Road, and it is an easy walk from most of East Brisbane and Kangaroo Point. The wider park adds a playground, BBQs, a basketball court and the Pineapple Hotel next door for a post-park lunch.
