Wembley Park Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced, grassed off-leash area on the eastern side of Wembley Park in Coorparoo, with a split layout that lets small dogs roam clear of boisterous bigger ones. It backs onto Bridgewater Creek and the wider park, and is one of the better-equipped local off-leash spots on the south side, with agility gear and reliable shade.

The rules. The fenced off-leash zone is accessed from the Eastern Road car park. Dogs can run free only inside the fenced boundary, they need to be back on leash for the rest of Wembley Park. Keep voice control over your dog while off-leash and clean up after them using the bins provided.

What's there. A ramp and a few agility sections give dogs something to do beyond a flat run. Water taps and bowls are on site, and there's bench seating under a large Jacaranda tree that throws good shade over the warmer months. The park is wheelchair accessible and fine for kids too.

Getting there. Park in the Eastern Road car park, which is shared with the netball courts next door. It fills up fast on netball nights, so if it's full, residential streets nearby have spare parking. A few bus stops service the surrounding roads, though most locals drive.

Check the fence line and gate before you let go of the leash. Shared car parks near sports courts get busy fast on game nights, so a full car park usually means a full dog park too.

When to go. Weekday mornings are the quiet window, before the after-school and evening netball crowd arrives. Sunny mornings make the most of the Jacaranda shade later in the day. Good for small dogs thanks to the split zones, and for owners after a proper off-leash run without driving into the city.
