What visitors mention
A fully fenced, double-gated off-leash run tucked into Neal Macrossan Park on Caroline Street, Paddington, with mature trees for shade and open grass for a proper sprint. The fencing is the reason to come: it is one of the few enclosed dog areas this close to the inner west, so recall-in-progress dogs can let loose without a road in sight.
The rules. Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced enclosure but must be on-leash everywhere else in the surrounding park, which shares ground with a children's playground, skate bowl and Ithaca Pool. Entry is through a double-gated airlock to stop bolters. Keep your dog under voice control, scoop after them, and leave aggressive or unvaccinated dogs at home.
What's there. Covered seating and benches line the run so you can watch in the shade. Water taps with fixed dog bowls handle hydration, and bins sit close by for waste. Public toilets and the playground are a few steps away in the main park. The surface is mostly grass with worn sandy patches, and it turns muddy after rain.
Getting there. Street parking sits around Caroline Street and the surrounding Paddington streets, though it tightens at peak times. Brisbane City Council buses run along Given Terrace and Caxton Street, and walkways feed in from the residential streets nearby.
Nearby with the dogs. The Hope and Anchor pub on Given Terrace is a two-minute walk for a post-run drink in the courtyard, and the dog-friendly cafes along Given Terrace and Latrobe Terrace put plenty of footpath tables within reach.

When to go. Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are the quietest window, ideal for timid dogs who want room. Mornings before 8am and the 4pm to 6pm stretch draw the biggest crowds, and weekend mornings are busiest of all. Skip it just after heavy rain unless you do not mind a muddy dog.
