Broncos Red Hill Dog Park

Broncos Red Hill Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area inside Gilbert Park, on the corner of Fulcher Road and Kenwyn Street in Red Hill, about three kilometres from the Brisbane CBD. It shares the wider park with a playground and sports fields, so it doubles as a family stop as well as a dog run.

The dog setup

Dogs stay on-leash everywhere in Gilbert Park except inside the fenced enclosure, where they run off-leash under effective voice control per Brisbane City Council rules. Owners stay close enough to respond immediately to unwanted behaviour, muzzle or remove any dog showing aggression, and bin the mess. A double-gated entry acts as an airlock so dogs cannot dart onto the street while the lead comes off. Inside there is a mix of grass and shade, benches and pergolas for owners, and an on-site water station, with a wooden climbing fort, swings and slides in the adjoining playground.

Max: the ground here slopes and turns to mud fast after rain, so a towel in the car is worth it before anyone gets back in.

Worth knowing

Mornings from 6am to 8am and late afternoons from 4:30pm to 6:30pm are the busiest, when locals swing by before or after work. For a calmer visit, especially with a reactive or anxious dog, aim for a weekday mid-morning or early afternoon. It is a compact inner-city yard, so expect a social regular crowd at peak times rather than acres of open ground.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Kenwyn Street and Fulcher Road but gets tight at peak times. The 380 and 381 buses from Brisbane City stop nearby on Musgrave Road or Windsor Road, with a short walk up to Fulcher Road from there.
