Broncos Red Hill Dog Park

Broncos Red Hill Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area inside Gilbert Park, on the corner of Fulcher Road and Kenwyn Street, about 3 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD. It shares the wider park with a playground and sports fields, so it doubles as a family stop as well as a dog run.

The rules. Dogs must stay on-leash everywhere in Gilbert Park except inside the fenced enclosure itself, where they can run off-leash under effective voice control. Owners must muzzle or remove any dog showing aggression, and pick up after their dog using the bins provided.

What's there. A double-gated entry acts as an airlock so dogs cannot dart onto the street while you're getting the lead off. Inside there's a mix of grass and shaded areas, park benches and pergolas for owners, and an on-site water station. The adjoining playground has a wooden climbing fort, swings and slides.

Getting there. Street parking runs along Kenwyn Street and Fulcher Road but gets tight during peak times. The 380 and 381 buses from Brisbane City stop nearby on Musgrave Road or Windsor Road, with a short walk up to Fulcher Road from there.

Nearby with the dogs. Gramps Cafe on Windsor Road welcomes dogs indoors and out and is known for its brunch and coffee. Little Red Bakery, also on Windsor Road, has a dog-friendly courtyard for a quieter pastry stop.

Mornings from 6am to 8am and late afternoons from 4:30pm to 6:30pm are the busiest, when locals swing by before or after work. For a calmer visit, especially with a reactive or anxious dog, aim for a weekday mid-morning or early afternoon instead.
