The Normanby Hotel is a heritage-listed pub from the 1880s on the corner of Musgrave Road and Kelvin Grove Road, right on the edge of Red Hill. It has a spacious outdoor beer garden and courtyard where dogs are explicitly welcome.

The dog setup. Dogs are allowed in the open-air beer garden and courtyard, but not inside the enclosed bar areas or the gaming lounge. There's no pet fee, just the usual ask that your dog is leashed, well-behaved and supervised. Staff generally put out water bowls in the courtyard, though it's worth bringing your own bowl and a couple of treats just in case.

Known for. A lively weekend beer garden scene with DJ sets, plus classic pub food like steaks, burgers and rump on the bone. It's one of Brisbane's older surviving pubs, so there's some history in the walls along with the Sunday crowd.

Getting there and parking. There's a free on-site car park with around 80 spaces, entered from Kelvin Grove Road. Several Brisbane City Council bus routes run past the venue on Kelvin Grove Road if you'd rather not drive.

the beer garden gets loud and busy once the DJ starts on weekends, so if your dog is noise-shy, an earlier sitting is the easier option.

Nearby with the dogs. Broncos Red Hill Dog Park is a short walk up the road, useful for a pre-pub run before your dog has to settle at the table. The streets around the Normanby Fiveways are pleasant for a stroll before or after.

Confirm current dog rules at the door or with staff before you sit down, since pub policies can shift with management or events.
