Newmarket Dog Park

Newmarket Dog Park is the fully fenced off-leash precinct inside Grinstead Park on Vigor Street, Alderley, and one of the busiest dog parks in Brisbane's inner north-west. Double-gated entry, a separate small dog area and mature shade trees make it workable for everything from cattle dogs to cautious cavoodles.

The dog run

The enclosure is split into separate fenced zones for small and large dogs, with water available and shaded seating for owners. Off-leash play is confined to the fenced sections, and the airlock gate system means you can swap zones without an escape risk.

Brisbane City Council rules apply: effective control at all times even inside the fence, lead back on the moment you step into the wider Grinstead Park, and no dogs near the children's playground. Bins are provided, rangers patrol, and dogs in heat or unvaccinated puppies are expected to stay home.

The vibe

This is a social park with a regular crowd, and the topics visitors raise most are the friendly owners, the small dog area and how many dogs turn up at peak times. If your dog is still learning group manners, a weekday morning visit is a gentler introduction than a Saturday afternoon.

Getting there and parking

The dog park sits at 31 Vigor Street, Alderley, with parking off Vigor Street that fills quickly at peak times, so keep a street park in reserve. Alderley train station is close enough for a short walk and buses along Samford Road also stop nearby.

Make a day of it
