Shand Street Park Off Leash Dog Area

Shand Street Park is a fully fenced off lead dog area at 100 Shand Street in Stafford, open around the clock and backing onto Kedron Brook, which makes it a more useful all day option than a plain fenced square of grass. The creek at the back of the fence is the difference maker.

The dog setup

The area is fully fenced with double gated entrances, so dogs are safe off lead once inside, and owners need to supervise at all times and remove any dog showing aggression. Bins are provided for waste, and shaded seating, a dog friendly water fountain and free poo bags at the gate round out the kit.

Dogs that like to swim get easy access to Kedron Brook for a cool off, which earns its keep over a Brisbane summer. A separate basketball and skate park and a children's playground sit adjacent, so it doubles as a family stop, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Street parking sits along Shand Street right at the gate, with the neighbouring Roy Harvey Park sharing the same strip. Translink bus routes run along Stafford Road and Appleby Road, leaving a walk of roughly five to ten minutes to the entrance.

Close by with the dogs

Roy Harvey Park Fenced Dog Park is right down the road at the other end of Shand Street if you want a second fenced option. The Kedron Brook Dog Beach at Gordon Park continues the water theme downstream, and Nana and Da's at Kedron is the local coffee stop with a welcoming feel.
