Stafford Dog Park

Stafford Dog Park is an open, unfenced off-leash area in Stafford under Brisbane City Council's off-leash rules. There is no gate to walk through here, just grassy space and shade, which is exactly the appeal for owners of dogs with dependable recall and exactly the problem for everyone else.

Leash status

Off-leash access applies only within the designated area, so read the on-site signage for the boundary line before you unclip; everything outside it is on-lead under council rules. Your dog must stay under effective control, meaning you can see them and they respond to you promptly. Dogs showing aggression and bitches in season are not permitted, and owners are expected to clean up, with bins provided on-site. Council guidance also keeps dogs clear of playgrounds and food areas within the broader park.

Water and terrain

The ground is open grass with some shaded patches and benches scattered around. Water is available for dogs, which earns real credit through a Brisbane summer. The unfenced boundary is the terrain hazard here: paths and park edges sit within reach of a dog that decides to self-exercise. If your dog chases runners or bikes, this is not your park; the fenced options down the road are.

When to go

Sunday and Monday evenings are the quietest windows. Weekday mornings and weekends draw the biggest crowds, which turns an open park into a busier social scene than some dogs enjoy. If your dog prefers space, time your visit accordingly.
