Little Poppy's Kitchen

Little Poppy's Kitchen is a small, much-loved cafe on the corner of Sandgate Road and North Road in Brighton, built on house-made baking and coffee. The footpath tables out front are where dogs sit, which makes it a natural stop on a bayside walk with the lead already on.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the footpath seating, not inside. Staff are used to canine regulars and puppuccinos are on offer for the four-legged half of the table. Bring your own water bowl in warmer weather, in case the ones out front are already spoken for.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is known for its croissants, including a chocolate almond version, alongside homemade cakes and biscuits, toasties and a basque cheesecake that regulars keep coming back for. It trades mornings only, closing at midday, and closes altogether on Tuesdays, so plan the visit around that. Expect company: this is a genuinely popular local and mornings move quickly.

Getting there and parking

It sits where Sandgate Road meets North Road in Brighton, on Brisbane's bayside. On-street parking is usually findable along North Road and the surrounding residential streets, though it tightens up at peak breakfast time. Coming from the foreshore on foot is often easier than driving the last stretch.

Pair it with

The Decker Park Fenced Dog Park gives your dog a proper off-lead run to earn the croissant, and the bayside path towards Sandgate and Shorncliffe makes a good on-lead warm-down.
