The lead. Luan's Cafe & Kitchen is a family-run local on Beaconsfield Terrace in Brighton, in the shopping strip near the corner of Lacon Street. Dogs sit at the footpath tables out front, and there is parking right there, which makes it a low-fuss stop on the way to or from the foreshore.

When to go. Breakfast and brunch are the busy windows. If you want a quiet footpath table, aim for a weekday late morning, and confirm the split hours if you are planning an afternoon coffee.
