Decker Park Fenced Dog Park

Decker Park sits on the Brighton foreshore at 18 Twenty Fifth Avenue, near the Hornibrook Highway bridge, and its fully fenced dog park is the reason many locals stop. The draw is the double-gated, fully enclosed setup right beside Moreton Bay, with separate enclosures for big and small dogs so play stays matched. It is a reliable spot for a dog who cannot yet be trusted off-lead in the open.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with secure double-gate entries and split into separate big-dog and small-dog yards. Grassed ground, shade trees and shade sails cover the runs, with agility pieces such as tunnels, ramps and weave poles, and benches inside and outside the fence. Keep your dog on-lead until you are inside, close both gates behind you every time, and stay in the enclosure within voice and sight range. Bring your own bags and a water bowl, because the on-site dispensers and taps are not always stocked or working.

The vibe

Busiest on weekend mornings and weekday afternoons after work; mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday is the quiet window if your dog is uneasy in a crowd. The wider park around the fence adds public toilets, electric barbecues, a large all-abilities playground and a basketball court, so it handles a family outing as well as a dog run. The foreshore alongside is best walked at low tide, so check the tide before planning a beach stretch.

Getting there and parking

Free off-street parking sits directly off Twenty Fifth Avenue, and street parking along the park perimeter rarely fills. By public transport, take the train to Sandgate station and connect to a local bus into Brighton. On foot, the park links straight into the foreshore paths, which are on-lead but scenic.

More off-leash nearby

Curlew Park in Sandgate is the other fenced option around the bay, and Boondall Dog Park covers the drive inland. For an off-leash waterfront run, Sandgate Foreshore Park is minutes north. Afterwards, Lili's Cafe does outdoor seating and dog treats a short walk on, and Baaia on the Sandgate waterfront is the longer stay.
