Fenrir Riverwood Dog Park

Fenrir Riverwood Dog Park is a fully fenced, off-leash park on Coleman Court in Murrumba Downs, in Moreton Bay's western suburbs. It is a big, open, functional space under high-tension power lines rather than a landscaped garden, which is precisely what makes it good for a proper run.

Leash status

Off-leash applies inside the fence line only. Use the double-gated entry properly, an airlock setup that keeps nothing slipping out while you are unclipping, and keep your dog under control the whole session. Pick up after your dog and bring your own bags, because supply is not something this park guarantees.

The dog setup

The park is split into two fenced sections, one for large dogs and one for small breeds, so you can match your dog with sensible playmates. There is a water station for dogs, basic seating for humans and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. What there is not, effectively, is shade: the powerline corridor means near-zero tree cover, and the ground heats up quickly in summer. The upside is long sightlines and room for a serious game of fetch.

Max: go early or go late in summer. There is nowhere to cool off out here once the ground starts radiating.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at 8 Coleman Court, Murrumba Downs, in a quiet residential pocket. Parking is limited and mostly on-street, so leave the neighbours their driveway. Petrie station is a few minutes away if you are combining a train trip with a walk over.

When to go

Early morning is the local habit and the comfortable one, especially from October to March. Evenings get a decent crew too on weekdays. Weekday mid-mornings tend to be the quietest window if you are working recall or settling in a new dog.

While you're out there

The Blatchford Recreation Reserve Fenced Dog Park is the other Murrumba Downs run, and the Capestone Dog Park at Mango Hill is worth a detour for its water edge. The Sweeney Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits by the Petrie foreshore, and Hygge Cafe in Petrie does the post-park coffee.
