Rob Akers Reserve Dog Park on Old Gympie Road is Strathpine's dedicated off-leash spot, a fully fenced area shaded by mature trees within a larger community reserve.

The rules. Dogs must be under effective control at all times, and owners need to pick up and dispose of waste immediately. The fenced exercise area is the off-leash zone, keep dogs leashed in the surrounding parts of the reserve outside that boundary. Make sure your dog is comfortable around other dogs before you let them off, as the fenced area gets social.

Watch-outs. The ground can turn muddy and hold water after heavy rain, so it is worth checking conditions before you go if it has been wet.

Weekday mid-morning or early afternoon is the quiet window, weekday early mornings, late afternoons, and weekend mornings draw the biggest crowds. Good for dogs that enjoy off-leash socialising within a contained, shaded space.
