Piggott Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Piggott Reserve on Leitchs Road is a fully fenced off-leash dog park in the Brendale industrial belt, north of Brisbane, with separate enclosures that keep big, bouncy dogs away from the small or timid ones. It sits inside a larger reserve with walking paths and open grass, so there is room to keep moving once your dog has burned off the first rush of arrival energy.

The dog setup

The park runs two fenced sections split for small and large dogs, entered through a double-gate transition where your dog stays leashed until the gate is shut behind you. Water taps and bowls cover hydration, bench seating sits under mature trees for shade, and bins with bags are usually stocked, though spares in the pocket are the reliable habit. The wider reserve adds paved walking paths and fitness equipment for an on-lead lap afterwards, and there is a children's playground in the neighbourhood space as well.

Worth knowing

City of Moreton Bay's standard off-leash conditions apply: stay inside the enclosure, keep your dog in sight and under effective voice control, clean up promptly, and leash and remove any dog showing aggression straight away. Vaccinations should be current before mixing with others. Being in an industrial suburb, the park is quiet on weekends when the surrounding estates are not, and the low corners of the run hold water after rain.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits on Leitchs Road in Brendale, roughly half an hour north of the Brisbane CBD by car, with parking at the reserve and street parking near the Maynard Court and Nicol Way access points. Strathpine Station is the nearest rail, about 2.5km away, so a rideshare closes the last leg quickly if you come by train.

Brendale's cafe scene has grown up around the industrial estates, and Ground Rules Coffee Roastery and Groupheads and Grind are both handy for a post-run coffee.
