Hygge Cafe

Hygge Cafe is a small, casual breakfast and brunch spot at 8/1 Dayboro Road, Petrie, near the Dayboro Road and Gympie Road intersection. It lives up to its Danish name without trying too hard: big mugs, generous plates, and an unfussy welcome that extends to dogs on lead in the alfresco seating.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the alfresco seating, which has shaded spots and some tables under cover, useful through a Queensland summer. Water bowls are typically available. The room is compact and tables sit close, so it suits well-behaved dogs happy to settle near their owner rather than dogs who need space from passing foot traffic.

Worth knowing

Regulars come back for the bacon and egg rolls, breakfast wraps and eggs benedict, with serving sizes reviewers repeatedly describe as generous. Coffee is served in large mugs, and milkshakes and gluten free options are on the menu. Doors open 7am to midday Monday through Saturday and it is closed Sundays, so it is strictly a morning venue and a common stop after the Petrie parkrun.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits near the Petrie roundabout with free street parking plus a free car park, so it is an easy drive-up with a dog in tow. Petrie station is close by if you are arriving on foot.
