Mungarra Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Mungarra Reserve's fenced dog park sits in a green City of Moreton Bay reserve at 61/82 Affleck Avenue, Petrie, with a lake, tree-lined paths along the North Pine River and a fully enclosed off-leash run. The wider reserve gives you an on-lead walk for afterwards, so one stop covers both a free run and a proper leg stretch.

The dog setup

Inside the fenced area dogs can be off-lead, but they need to stay under effective voice control the whole time. Everywhere else in the reserve, including the lake edge, picnic zones and shared paths, dogs stay on leash.

The enclosure has a dog drinking station and water fountains, waste bag dispensers and bins, plus some agility and training equipment. For handlers there is shelter, seating and toilets, with parking near the reserve entrance.

The vibe

It is a neighbourhood park rather than a destination dog run: grassy, shaded, and popular with locals, with a children's playground and skate park next door. Mind the transition between those play areas and the gate when you arrive and leave, and clip the lead back on before you cross over.

Max: aim for mid-morning on a weekday if your dog is shy. Early morning and late afternoon pack out with regulars, and the wider reserve makes a good plan B for a lead walk if the enclosure is full.

Getting there

Access is off Affleck Avenue in Petrie with a dedicated car park near the reserve entrance. Petrie train station is a short drive away, and local bus routes cover the area if you are coming without a car. The shared walking and cycling paths are flat, so the on-lead loop is an easy add-on if you have kids in tow.

While you're out there

The walking tracks connect through toward Sweeney Reserve Fenced Dog Park on Old Dayboro Road, which has its own shelter, water fountain and waste bags. For a coffee after the run, Striker Coffee Co and Hygge Cafe are both in the Petrie strip and welcome dogs outside.
