Baaia

Baaia is a family-run waterfront cafe at 94 Flinders Parade, Sandgate, looking straight out over Moreton Bay and directly across the road from the foreshore path. The combination of a bay view and a genuinely dog-friendly outdoor deck makes it one of the anchor stops on the Sandgate foreshore strip.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, undercover seating, which is the comfortable choice in any weather. Water bowls are provided, and the kitchen goes a step further with pup cups and homemade dog biscuits, so your dog is properly catered for rather than just allowed. A few reviewers mention dogs inside, but treat the covered deck as the reliable option and keep your dog on lead at the table. The tables back onto the foreshore path, so watch for joggers and prams passing behind you.

Worth knowing

The menu runs from a substantial big breakfast and Atlas Benny to the harvest salmon stack at lunch, with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options throughout. Hours run from 7am, to 2pm on weekdays and 2:30pm on weekends, so it is a morning-and-lunch venue; weekend tables fill early with the foreshore crowd, and booking ahead is worth it for a deck position. Breakfast trades until around 11:30am before the menu flips to lunch.

Getting there and parking

Flinders Parade runs the length of the Sandgate foreshore, with street parking along the waterfront and Sandgate train station a few blocks back. The venue works as either the start or the finish of a foreshore walk, and the pier end of the path is an easy stretch with a dog on lead.

Close by with the dogs

The Sandgate Foreshore Park Dog Off Leash Area is directly relevant, giving your dog an off-lead run with the same bay outlook, and the Curlew Park Fenced Dog Park is the fully fenced fallback. For a second coffee, Capulet & Co and The Wired Owl sit in the village streets behind the foreshore.
