Capulet & Co

Capulet & Co is a relaxed, community-focused cafe at 95 Brighton Road in the heart of Sandgate, on Brisbane's bayside, and a regular stop for locals walking their dogs along the foreshore. It is genuinely dog-welcoming, with the bonus of a barber and a bit of retail under the same roof.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on the footpath out the front and side, leashed, with the indoor room reserved for people. Water bowls are put out, and the team has been known to pour a complimentary floofalatte for canine regulars, which says most of what you need to know about how the place treats dogs. Bring your own backup bowl on a hot day when the strip is busy.

Worth knowing

The coffee is well regarded and often called among the best in Sandgate, and the brunch menu runs from eggs benedict and blueberry bagels to acai bowls, a brekky burger and fish tacos, with gluten-free bread on hand and solid vegetarian and vegan options. Hours run 6am to 1pm weekdays, 7am to 2pm Saturday and 7am to 1pm Sunday, so it is a morning-and-early-lunch operation.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Brighton Road in central Sandgate, a short walk from the foreshore path. Free street parking is available along Brighton Road and the surrounding streets, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and accessible parking nearby.

The Sandgate foreshore path is a short walk away for a stroll before or after coffee, and Sandgate Foreshore Park Dog Off Leash Area covers the off-lead stretch.
