Brighton Jetty Bakery

Brighton Jetty Bakery sits on the main strip at 83 Jetty Road in Brighton, a couple of minutes up from the beach and jetty, and it is one of the most dog-aware stops on Adelaide's southern coastal strip. It opens 7am to 5pm every day, and the bakery itself is the draw: pies, pasties, donuts, vanilla slices and the South Australian kitchener bun, backed by solid coffee.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath seating under the umbrellas, with the counter-side queue for humans only. Staff famously keep dog biscuits behind the counter and hand out water bowls, which earns the bakery its reputation as a proper after-beach stop. A portable bowl still helps in summer when the tables turn over fast. Order at the counter, then settle your dog at a table outside.

Max: the bikkies are genuinely freshly baked by the same ovens doing the pastries. Time your walk so breakfast here follows the esplanade, not the other way around.

Worth knowing

It is a bakery first and a cafe second, so expect a queue at peak breakfast and be ready to wait for a footpath table on weekends. Gluten-free options are stocked alongside the classics. Street parking on Jetty Road and the side avenues goes early on weekends and through summer.

Getting there and parking

The bakery is right on Jetty Road, the main run down to the Brighton foreshore. Street parking lines the road and side avenues, and the beach and esplanade are a short walk downhill. The whole strip is easy going with a leashed dog.

While you're out there

Take the post-breakfast walk down to the jetty and along the esplanade, or finish with a run at Dover Square Reserve Fenced Dog Park just south in South Brighton. If the queue is too long, The Seller Door and Big Shots Cafe a few doors down also seat dogs outside, and Brighton Beachfront Holiday Park is the pet-friendly stay option on the same coast.
