Alimentary Eatery

Alimentary Eatery is an all-day brunch cafe on Jetty Road, Brighton, and one of the more frequented spots on the strip. For dog owners the useful part is the back patio, which gives you a sheltered option beyond the footpath tables. Service runs from 7am on weekdays and 8am on weekends through to 2pm.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating, including the dog-friendly back patio. Indoors is kept for two-legged guests, as with most cafes, so plan on an outside table. Staff are used to dogs, but bring your own water bowl to be sure, especially on a warm day when the strip is busy.

Worth knowing

The menu covers all-day breakfast and brunch, fresh healthy plates, smoothies and specialty coffee, with vegan options in the mix. Weekends get busy and there can be a wait for a table, so a midweek visit is the relaxed way to do it with a dog.

Getting there and parking

It sits on Jetty Road, Brighton's main strip. Free street parking runs along Jetty Road and the surrounding side streets, though it is tight on weekends. Brighton Railway Station on the Seaford line is a short walk away, so walking in works well if you are local.

Make a day of it

The beach and jetty are a short walk down Jetty Road, and the coastal path is good for a longer leg-stretch before or after brunch. Dogs are allowed on Brighton Beach but on-leash time restrictions apply through summer, so check the council signage before unclipping. Other dog-friendly tables are close at hand: A Cafe Etc. and The Seller Door on the same strip, and Royal Copenhagen up the road for a frozen dog treat on the way back.
