Albion Hotel

The Albion Hotel is a Victorian-era pub at 300 Sandgate Road in Albion, on Brisbane's inner north, and it runs a dog-friendly outdoor beer garden and courtyard. It opens from 10am to 4am daily, so it covers everything from a lunch stop with the dog to a late one.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor beer garden and courtyard seating, on a lead and under control. Water bowls have been put out for visiting dogs, and indoor dining rooms are for people only. If the courtyard is busy, ask staff which outdoor sections are open that day.

Max: pick a corner table in the beer garden rather than the main thoroughfare. The pub runs live sport and music, so a settled spot away from the foot traffic makes the lead-down wait much easier for a young dog.

The vibe

It is a big, lively local: rump steak and steak sandwiches, parmigiana, arancini and a wine room, with pokies, screens and regular live music and trivia nights. With well over a thousand reviews it is a busy community pub, so expect atmosphere rather than a quiet corner, especially on weekends and game days.

Getting there

There is a free on-site car park plus street parking nearby, and both fill up on weekends and event nights. Albion station is a short walk away for anyone coming by train.

While you're out there

The fenced dog run at Crosby Park Fenced Dog Park is about 500 metres away, an easy off-lead burn-off before a beer garden lunch. If you are staying overnight, Quest Breakfast Creek is close by in the same pocket of Albion.
