Tamrab Thai Taringa

Tamrab Thai is a Thai restaurant and cafe on the ground floor of the Westside Private Hospital precinct at 32 Morrow Street, Taringa, directly opposite Taringa train station. It runs breakfast through dinner and keeps street-side alfresco tables near the entrance, which is where a dog joins you.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor alfresco area on Morrow Street; the indoor room is people only. There is no published formal pet policy, so treat the outdoor tables as the dog-friendly option and confirm with staff on arrival. Bring your own water bowl, as one is not guaranteed, and keep the lead clipped to the table rather than trailing into the footpath.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is known for fresh, traditional Thai that leans light rather than oily: beef massaman, red curry, pad thai and wonton soup, with a clearly labelled vegan and vegetarian range including green curry, stir-fried noodles and deep-fried tofu. Barista coffee and breakfast put it in cafe territory mornings, and it is fully licensed. Hours run 6:30am to 3pm on weekdays and 8am to 3pm weekends, with dinner service into the evening. Off-peak windows beat the dinner rush for an outside table.

Getting there and parking

On-site parking is available, plus street parking on Morrow Street with time limits. Being opposite Taringa station makes it easy by train, and the locale's residential streets suit a post-meal stroll.

Close by with the dogs

Anzac Park Fenced Dog Park at Toowong is a short drive for an off-leash run before dinner. On the same side of the suburb, Clay Cafe on Moggill Road has outdoor tables for coffee, and Scatter Bean near the station is a regular stop for local dog walkers.
