Carawa Street Park Fenced Dog Park

Carawa Street Park's fenced dog area sits in a quiet residential pocket of St Lucia near the St Lucia Golf Club, a short stroll from the Hawken Drive shops. It is fully enclosed, open 24 hours, and small enough that it works as a quick run rather than an all-morning outing.

The dog setup

Dogs run off lead only inside the fence itself: leash up before the gate and again on the way out, keep the dog under effective voice control, and clean up promptly with the bins provided. Brisbane City Council rules also require dogs to be registered, and restricted breeds are not permitted in these areas.

The enclosure has concrete paths, benches and sandstone-block seating, mature shade trees and a water station for dogs. There is no separate small-dog section, so it suits small dogs best at quieter times.

Max: leash on before the gate, leash on after, every time. It is a small enclosure and it fills up fast after 5pm on weeknights.

The vibe

Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are the quiet window, while evenings after 5pm and weekend mornings bring the after-work and after-class crowd from the university side of the river. Go earlier if your dog prefers space to itself.

Getting there and parking

The park is at 5 Carawa Street, with street parking on Carawa Street that is limited enough to mean a block or two of walking on busy afternoons. Bus stops on Carmody Road and Hawken Drive are within walking distance.

Close by with the dogs

Saint and Co on Hawken Drive is the local coffee stop afterwards, and Hundred Acre beside the golf course handles a longer meal with dogs outside. For a second fenced run, Anzac Park Fenced Dog Park at Toowong is a few minutes away.
