Clay Cafe

Clay Cafe is a compact specialty-coffee spot at 15/165 Moggill Road in Taringa, pouring Toby's Estate beans and running an all-day brunch menu out of a small, snug room. There is a little gallery wall for local artists, the coffee has a loyal local following, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables. Because the footprint is tight, it suits smaller or well-settled dogs best.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, and water bowls are usually put out. The main thing to know is size: the space is small, and it can get crowded when several dogs are in at once. A calm dog that tucks in beside the table works far better than a big, bouncy one, so take an edge table and keep the lead short so footpath traffic has room.

The coffee is the draw, and the latte art is good enough that people photograph it. Getting there and parking

The cafe fronts busy Moggill Road, with free three-hour parking nearby and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. Open daily from 7am to 2pm, so it is a breakfast-and-lunch venue rather than an afternoon one. Quieter weekday mornings are the easiest window with a dog, given the size of the space.
