Rocks Riverside Park Promenade

Brisbane River views run the length of the promenade at Rocks Riverside Park in Seventeen Mile Rocks, and the wide concrete path makes it an easy walk for most dogs. Brisbane City Council requires dogs to stay on lead along the promenade and through the park.

The walk

The sealed path is a shared bikeway, so keep the lead short when cyclists come through. Along the way you pass relics and public art from the site's past life as a cement and lime quarry.

More than 800 metres of the path faces straight onto the river. Open lawns beside it give dogs plenty to sniff without leaving your side.

Water and shade

There are bubblers and taps around the park and bins along the paths and picnic areas. A portable bowl still helps on the riverside stretch.

Mature trees and shade sails cover parts of the route, but the grassy sections sit in full sun.

Make a day of it

For off-lead time, Delapine Place Park Fenced Dog Park is close by. Coffee is at Riverlife Cafe.

Parking is free off Counihan Road. In summer aim for early morning or late afternoon, and note the flat paved surface suits older dogs well.
