Delapine Place Park Fenced Dog Park

Delapine Place Park is a small fenced off-leash park on Fremont Street, built for the Seventeen Mile Rocks and Edenbrooke residential pocket. It is open 24 hours and gives local dogs a secure grass run without the crowds of the bigger riverside parks nearby.

The rules. Dogs must stay on-leash until inside the fenced area, and owners need to stay in the enclosure and supervise at all times. Bring your own waste bags as backup even though bins are provided, and remove any dog showing aggression straight away.

What's there. The park sits on a compact 0.39-hectare block with a grass surface, bench seating for owners and a wheelchair-accessible entry point. Shade is only partial, so this one gets hot in the middle of the day. Check the perimeter fencing before letting a dog off-leash, as gaps have been reported in the past.

Getting there. Street parking on Fremont Street is limited, so expect to compete for spots at busy times. It is a short drive off the Centenary Motorway, and while Brisbane City Council buses run along Seventeen Mile Rocks Road, the park itself is really a drive-to spot rather than a transit one.

Nearby with the dogs. Sheena's coffee kiosk and Riverlife Cafe are both a short drive away in Seventeen Mile Rocks for a coffee after the park, and Rocks Riverside Park adds a longer riverfront walk if your dog has more energy to burn.

When to go. Weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings are the quietest windows. Sunday mornings, Friday afternoons and Saturday evenings draw the biggest crowds, so aim outside those if you want the fenced area to yourself. Good for owners in the immediate area after a heavy rain spell, though, expect mud underfoot.
