Delapine Place Park Fenced Dog Park

Delapine Place Park is a small fenced off-leash park serving the Seventeen Mile Rocks and Edenbrooke residential pocket, open 24 hours on a compact 0.39-hectare block. It gives local dogs a secure grass run without the crowds that come with the bigger riverside parks a suburb over.

The dog setup

Leashes stay on until you are inside the fenced enclosure, and owners remain in the yard and supervise at all times, Brisbane City Council rules in full. Clean up promptly, carry spare bags in case the bins and dispensers run dry, and leash up and leave if your dog shows aggression. Voice control applies even inside the fence.

One practical warning: check the perimeter fencing before you let a dog off, because small gaps at the base have been reported in the past. Slim and escape-prone dogs deserve a fence inspection anywhere, but especially here. The surface is grass, bench seating covers the owners, and the entry point is wheelchair accessible.

This is a neighbourhood pocket park, so the trade-off for the quiet is minimal shade and no playground, barbecues or public toilets on site. Partial shade means the middle of the day gets hot, particularly through summer. After heavy rain, expect mud underfoot even though the grass drains reasonably. Weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings are the quiet windows; Sunday mornings, Friday afternoons and Saturday evenings draw the crowds.

Getting there and parking

The park is reached from Fremont Street, a short drive off the Centenary Motorway. Street parking on Fremont Street is limited, so busy times mean competing for spots. Brisbane City Council buses run along Seventeen Mile Rocks Road, but this is a drive-to park rather than a transit one for most visitors.

Close by with the dogs

Sheena's coffee kiosk and Riverlife Cafe are both a short drive away for a coffee after the park, and the suburb's other yard, Baxter's Reserve Dog Park, is an alternative if the fence gaps concern you.
