Ashridge Road Park Fenced Dog Park

Ashridge Road Park is a fully fenced off-leash dog park on Monier Road in Darra, backing onto a quiet strip of bushland in Brisbane's west. The draw is a secure perimeter with open grass and shade trees, so most dogs can run without you watching the road, and the whole reserve is open around the clock.

The dog setup

Inside the enclosure dogs run free, but the lead goes back on for the walk in and out and anywhere in the surrounding parkland. Brisbane City Council's standard off-leash conditions apply: stay within sight, keep your dog responsive to commands, and do not let them rush people or other dogs. Pick up after your dog using the bins on site. Some visitors report the fencing runs low on certain sides, so an athletic jumper deserves a second look before you unclip.

The vibe

This is a compact local park rather than a destination dog park: shaded seating for owners, bins, general water access, and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. A walking trail runs alongside if you want to add a leashed stroll before or after. Early mornings and late afternoons are the social peak; mid-morning through early afternoon on a weekday suits a nervous or reactive dog far better. Autumn into winter is the most comfortable stretch for a longer session.

Max: check the gate latches and the fence line before you unclip. It is a two-gate habit worth keeping, especially where visitors say the mesh sits low.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Monier Road, with the fenced area commonly reached from the Chipley Street side. On-street parking on the surrounding streets is usually easy. Darra Station is roughly a 1.5 kilometre walk, around 15 to 20 minutes on foot, and buses service the area.
