Raby Bay Dog Beach

Raby Bay Dog Beach is a designated off-leash swimming cove on the Raby Bay foreshore at Cleveland, on the calm, protected water of Moreton Bay. The draw is the water itself: a shallow, sheltered, sandy cove that stays swimmable even at high tide, which makes it one of the safer off-leash swims in the Redlands for dogs of any size.

The rules. Off-leash is the designated section only, on the foreshore between the groynes in front of the park. Everywhere else in the surrounding parkland your dog must be on-leash, and dogs are not permitted in the nearby netted swimming enclosure or the mangrove and revegetated zones. Keep your dog under effective voice control at all times. Note that erosion and foreshore works have been running through mid-2026: the off-leash area stays open, but access points can shift, so follow the current council signage on the day.

What's there. The foreshore is landscaped parkland with good tree shade, public toilets, BBQs, picnic tables and bins. Dog waste bags and a rinse-off tap are provided, though bring your own bags as backup and your own water bowl, since the swim is salt water. Wheelchair-accessible parking and paths are available.

Getting there. The beach sits off Masthead Drive, Cleveland, with a free off-street car park and street parking. It is roughly 35 minutes' drive from Brisbane, and a short walk from Cleveland Station at the end of the Cleveland line, so it is genuinely doable without a car.

Nearby with the dogs. The Raby Bay Harbour precinct is minutes away, with several waterfront venues that welcome dogs in their outdoor areas for a coffee or a feed after the swim.

When to go. Low to mid-tide gives you the most sandy space, but the sheltered bay is fine to swim at high tide too. Mid-week mornings and late evenings are quietest; Sunday is the busiest stretch. Good for social dogs and for nervous swimmers who want flat, shallow water.
