Three Paddocks Park Fenced Dog Park

Three Paddocks Park's fenced dog park on Thomas Street in Birkdale is a Redland City Council facility with a quieter local feel: fully fenced, airlock gated, and split into separate zones for small and large dogs, set inside a wider recreational park with a playground and public toilets.

The dog setup

The layout is the standard for the newer Redlands parks: secure airlock entry gates, a small dog area and a large dog area, a shaded shelter with seating, water bowls and taps, a waste bin with an ecosac bag dispenser, and a community toy box that regulars keep stocked. The playground and toilets in the broader park make it workable for a family visit, with the dog zones away from the play equipment.

The rules here

Council's off leash guidelines apply: stay inside the enclosure with your dog and keep it under effective control, leash up again immediately on leaving, and use the zone matched to your dog's size. Dogs declared dangerous or menacing are not permitted in council off leash areas at all. Keep at least ten metres clear of any play or fitness equipment outside the fence, and be koala aware; Redlands parks share space with local wildlife, so scan the trees before you release the hound. Close both airlock gates properly, which is the main way dogs get loose at fenced parks.

Getting there and parking

The park is on Thomas Street, Birkdale, with free parking nearby, and some visitors find the entry via Walton Way easier. Birkdale train station is within reasonable walking distance, so a car free visit is realistic.

When to go

Weekday mornings are the quiet window, useful for a reactive dog or anyone wanting the run of the space, while weekends and late weekday afternoons draw more locals. Bring insect repellent at dawn and dusk in the warmer months.
