Three Paddocks Park Fenced Dog Park on Thomas Street is a fully fenced off-leash area in Birkdale with separate sections for small and large dogs. It is a quieter, less-reviewed alternative to Valantine Park nearby, set within a wider recreational park.

The rules. Dogs must be leashed in the car park and on the walking paths, and can run off-leash inside the fenced zones. Make sure the airlock entry gates are closed properly behind you, this is the main way dogs get loose at fenced parks. Owners are responsible for their dog's behaviour and must clean up after them. Keep to the area matched to your dog's size.

What's there. A shaded shelter with seating, water taps and bowls, a waste bin and bag dispenser, and a shared toy box have all been reported on site. The broader park also has a playground and public toilets.

Getting there. The park is on Thomas Street with free parking nearby, and some visitors find entry via Walton Way easier. It is within a reasonable distance of Birkdale train station.

When to go. Weekday mornings tend to be quietest, useful if your dog is reactive or you want the run of the space. Weekends and late weekday afternoons draw more locals. Bring insect repellent around dawn and dusk.
