Redlands Softball Park Dog offleash Park

The Redlands Softball Park dog off-leash area sits on Sturgeon Street in Ormiston, beside the softball grounds, and it is one of Redland City Council's properly equipped dog parks. The fully fenced yard with an airlock gate makes it a reliable choice for dogs that need a secure run.

The dog setup

The space is fully fenced with separate areas for small and large dogs, entered through a secure airlock gate. Council lists a shelter, seating, a water bowl, waste bin and an ecosac dispenser among the fittings, so a water shortage is rarely an excuse to cut the visit short.

Council rules apply as usual: stay close and keep your dog under effective control, keep declared dangerous dogs out, and note that dogs are prohibited within 10 metres of children's play equipment anywhere in the reserve. Off-leash time counts only inside the signposted zone. The separation by size is the main draw, since it gives small dogs a yard where a boisterous Labrador cannot land on them mid-zoomie.

The vibe

This is a tidy suburban dog park used by Ormiston and Cleveland locals, clean and well maintained according to the council's own listing. Softball games next door add weekend noise, which is worth knowing for sound sensitive dogs.

Pepsi: an airlock gate is my favourite invention. I get to do a proper gallop and my humans do not spend the whole visit standing guard at a single latch.

Getting there

The off-leash area is at 45 to 55 Sturgeon Street, Ormiston, a short drive from Cleveland's centre with street parking near the softball park entrance. Ormiston train station is close by for anyone arriving on the Cleveland line.

Close by with the dogs

Raby Bay Dog Beach and the GJ Walter Park dog beach cover a saltwater session, and Valantine Park Fenced Dog Park is the neighbouring fenced option north.
