Mount Gravatt Hotel

The Mount Gravatt Hotel is a classic suburban pub at 1315 Logan Road, open daily from 10am to 4am, with a beer garden that takes dogs. It is the sort of place you finish a walk at rather than plan a whole day around, and the kitchen turns out proper pub food while you are there.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating areas and beer garden, not inside the bistro or sports bar, which keeps things simple. Water bowls are usually around, but bringing your own saves an awkward wait on a busy afternoon, and a settled dog under the table fits the room best.

The vibe

The menu runs to chicken schnitzel, pork ribs, steak sandwiches and cheesy garlic bread, with a kids' menu and a family bistro on one side and a community-flavoured sports bar on the other. Daytimes and early evenings are the relaxed window for a dog visit, and big game days are noticeably rowdier.

Pepsi: schnitzel crumbs have a way of reaching the ground when we sit in the garden. I have no complaints about this arrangement.

Getting there and parking

There is a free on-site car park with accessible spaces, and bus stops along Logan Road cover anyone arriving by public transport. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. Give the car park a miss on Friday and Saturday nights when the sports bar crowd fills it.

While you're out there

Work up the appetite first on the Mount Gravatt Summit Track or at the Abbeville Street Park Fenced Dog Park in Upper Mount Gravatt. Boorabbin Picnic Ground at Wishart is another fenced option nearby if you want a warm-up lap before lunch.
