Berrinba Wetlands

Berrinba Wetlands turns a regenerated stretch of land off Wayne Goss Drive into lagoons, bushland and more than 430,000 native plants, right on the Browns Plains border. Dogs are welcome on every path, but only on lead: the reserve has no off-lead area.

Leads and paths

Logan City Council keeps the whole wetland strictly on-lead. That makes sense once you see the pelicans, egrets and black swans working the water.

The paths are wide concrete shared paths and boardwalks, over 8 kilometres of them, smooth enough for prams and wheelchairs. Loops wind past the lagoons, so you can go short or long.

Water, shade and parking

Free parking is in the main car park off Wayne Goss Drive, near the interpretive centre. Bubblers sit by the main amenities block and the centre, with bins at the entrance, picnic areas and barbecues.

Shade is the thing to plan around. The picnic shelters and some mature trees help, but long runs of the concrete circuit sit in full sun, so carry water and a bowl on the longer loops.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run afterwards, Oakdale Park in Browns Plains has a fenced dog area. Coffee is at 107 Coffee Terminal.

When to go

In summer, walk early or late, before the exposed concrete heats up. The flat, even surface makes this an easy pick for older dogs and anyone pushing a pram.
