Oakdale Park

Oakdale Park is a fully fenced, off-leash dog park on Browns Plains Road in Browns Plains, run under Logan City Council rules and open around the clock. A double-gated entry airlock handles the on-leash to off-leash handover, and established shade trees make it a more comfortable stop than a bare suburban oval.

Leash status

Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced area but must be under effective control the whole time, with the handler staying inside with them. Keep the lead on arriving and leaving, close both gates securely behind you, and hold the airlock clear while others are moving through. Owners must carry bags and pick up immediately, with bins and dispensers provided. Any dog that gets unruly or snappy is the owner's problem to leash and remove, and dogs in heat or restricted breeds are not permitted in Logan's off-leash spaces.

Pepsi: use the double gate properly. A dog pushing past into the buffer zone while someone else is coming in is exactly how scuffles start.

Water and terrain

The ground is plain grass with mature trees for shade and bench seating for owners, though dog water is not a given, so bring a bowl. The surface holds water after heavy rain and turns muddy, so check conditions before heading out in wet weather. In summer the open sections heat up fast despite the shade, and the fence line and gate area get hot on paws.

Getting there and parking

The park sits right off Browns Plains Road with parking generally available on-site or in the adjacent residential streets. Several bus routes run along the road and it is within walking distance of Browns Plains Bus Station, so it works as a car-free stop too. The fencing matters here: the park is close to busy roads, and the enclosure is what makes an off-lead session safe.

When to go

Weekend mornings and weekday evenings after 5pm are the social peak. Mid-morning to early afternoon is quieter and better for nervous or reactive dogs, though in summer that is also the hottest stretch, so aim for shoulder hours. The park suits confident social dogs; the full fencing takes the escape risk out of the equation.
