Beach hours + boat decks
The Whitsundays keep the dog rules dawn-and-dusk.
Cannonvale Beach and Boathaven Beach at Airlie Beach run off-leash 5am-8am and 5pm-8pm under Whitsunday Regional Council, on-lead the rest of the day.
The foreshore parkland itself stays dog-restricted.
Island-hopping is mostly off the table for dogs - the day-trip boats carry only assistance animals - so the mainland beaches and Airlie’s cafe decks are the real itinerary.

Good to know
Which Whitsundays beaches are off-leash?
Cannonvale Beach and Boathaven Beach at Airlie Beach, off-leash 5am-8am and 5pm-8pm only, on-lead otherwise. Whitsunday Regional Council signs the foreshore limits.
Can dogs go on the island day trips?
No - the boat operators carry assistance animals only. Plan mainland beach days instead.
When is the best time to visit?
May to October: dry, cooler, and outside stinger season. Summer heat and box jellyfish make beach hours riskier.
How far is Airlie Beach from Brisbane?
About 12½ hours by road; Proserpine airport is 30 minutes away.
