Cape Gloucester Resort is a casual beachfront resort near Hideaway Bay on the western side of the peninsula, facing west into the Whitsundays sunsets. Its dog policy is clear where many places are vague: dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcome in the ground-level outdoor areas and the outdoor restaurant seating, and staff will even put a water bowl out. What it is not, as far as the resort's own messaging goes, is a pet-friendly room overnight.

Dogs are welcome on lead in the Bali huts, at the grass area tables and in the paved outdoor sections, plus the outdoor restaurant seating. Mention you are bringing a dog when you book so staff can seat you in one of the designated pet-friendly zones. The policy covers the outdoor restaurant and grounds only; it does not extend to the accommodation rooms, though some guest feedback describes the resort as pet-friendly for stays. If you were hoping to overnight here with your dog, call ahead and get an answer from the resort itself before you plan your stop around it.

The place

It is a relaxed beachfront restaurant and bar known for sunset views over the water, seafood platters and cold beer, with a long beach to walk on either side of a meal. Getting there is a proper drive in from Proserpine or Bowen rather than a quick detour, and private parking is on site.
