Garuma is a family-owned all-day breakfast cafe in the heart of Airlie Beach, on Shute Harbour Road. It is openly dog-friendly, with an outdoor patio that takes pets and a name locals reach for when they want good coffee with the dog along.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio. Staff are friendly and accommodating, but bring your own bowl. Early morning, from when it opens around 6:30am, is the time to grab a shady patio spot before the table turn picks up.

Known for. Coffee that locals rate highly, homemade pies and sausage rolls, and a good spread of vegan-friendly dishes. Quick, fresh breakfast and lunch service.

Getting there and parking. 346 Shute Harbour Road, on the main road. Street parking is available but limited at peak times, and it is a short walk from the town centre and the lagoon.

Nearby with the dogs. The Airlie Beach lagoon parklands are a short stroll for an on-leash walk (dogs stay out of the swimming enclosure), and the Port of Airlie offers a flat ocean-view walk.

Best early in the day for a quiet, shaded table. Good for dogs of any size who settle outdoors.
