Accom Whitsunday is a Cannonvale-based holiday rental manager with a portfolio of houses and townhouses around Cannonvale and Airlie Beach. Fit-out varies property to property, and Cannonvale townhouses often have courtyards that are shared or only partly enclosed, so ask whether the yard is fully fenced if your dog needs it.

Cannonvale Beach has an off-leash window at its eastern end early and late in the day, and the Cannonvale Dog Exercise Area gives a guaranteed off-lead run. On the beachfront, Fat Frog Beach Cafe sets out water bowls and keeps a dog menu. If a manager-arranged rental falls through, NRMA Airlie Beach Holiday Park takes dogs on selected sites and in designated pet accommodation on the same stretch of Shute Harbour Road.

Best for travellers who want a whole house with room for a dog in the Whitsundays and are willing to do the pre-approval properly rather than book on spec.
