Lumos Cafe Restaurant

Lumos Cafe Restaurant is an all-day cafe and restaurant at Shop 31/226 Shute Harbour Road in Cannonvale, open seven days for breakfast and lunch. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, which makes it a practical stop off the coastal path that runs between Cannonvale and Airlie Beach.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the outdoor seating area, on lead and settled beside the table. Staff are easygoing with four-legged guests, but there is no sign of a dedicated water bowl, so bring your own on warm Whitsunday mornings and keep dogs clear of the indoor and service areas. If the outdoor tables are full at peak breakfast, check with staff before settling in.

The menu and the room

The menu runs wide for a suburb cafe: Spanish breakfast plates, savoury and sweet waffles, house-made scones and banana bread, and strong vegetarian and vegan options, with burgers and chai lattes in the mix. Coffee is well regarded, and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Hours are 7am to 2pm Monday to Saturday and 7am to midday Sunday, so it is a breakfast-and-lunch operation rather than a late one. The cafe also does takeaway, share platters and catering if you are feeding a group.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Shute Harbour Road, the main drag through Cannonvale, with free parking nearby. The Bicentennial Walkway runs along the coast towards Airlie Beach and is on lead, while the Airlie Beach Boardwalk covers the scenic stretch through to the lagoon end. The Cannonvale Dog Exercise Area gives the dog an off-lead session before coffee, and Fat Frog Beach Cafe across from Cannonvale Beach is the other local dog-friendly table with water bowls out.
